Debbie Brent

Debbie joined Radio Guy's in December 1986, having been a patient at Guy's Hospital since birth.  She thought it would be good to give something back to the hospital in some way, and having always had an interest in music and radio, decided that Radio Guy's would be the ideal vehicle.  She started as a Programme Assistant, then progressed to broadcasting patients requests, general music programmes and occasional specialist programmes.  She presented a series of programmes called "Food Glorious Food" along with broadcasting colleague, John Wallace.  The programmes included a blind food tasting feature, which compared products such as chocolate, yogurt, wine and Coca Cola.  As you might guess, Debbie says that the wine tasting feature was her favourite.

Before she left in 1993, she became Assistant Studio Manager, helping Alan Pleasants with the purchase of records, organising the cleaning rota etc.  She returned briefly to Radio Guy's in 1998 when the campaign to obtain a studio site at St Thomas' Hospital was underway.  In the mean time, she had spent 4 years with Eastbourne Hospital Radio DGH, as a presenter and newsreader.

Debbie is no longer involved with hospital radio, but still maintains an active interest in music.  She lives in  Polegate, Sussex, and has been in a relationship with boyfriend Andy for over 5 years.  She still works in the railway industry, and is currently the Regional Performance Analyst for Network Rail's Southern Region.  She spends her spare time socialising with friends, or visiting Scotland to see her best friend who moved there in 2001.  Since her time at Radio Guy's, Debbie has also found time to obtain a Masters Degree in Personnel Management.
